Texans Care for Children is proud to be supported by a wide variety of individuals, direct service providers, families, corporations and foundations.  As a non-profit organization, we pride ourselves on working to best serve Texas children through strategic partnerships, working with local, statewide and national funders to improve the lives of Texas children.

Currently, our funding breakdown is the following:

our funders

Our paid memberships and foundation and corporate partners are vital to our organization.  They underwrite our work and the participation of our free nonprofit members while also strengthening our tie to hundreds of thousands of Texas families across the state.

I thought I would also take this opportunity to highlight some of the foundation projects we currently have underway:

  • Hogg Foundation for Mental Health – Texans Care for Children received a grant for the facilitation of the inaugural Hogg Foundation Mental Health Policy Academy.  The Academy is designed to provide professional development, content learning and technical support to mental health policy professionals and their host organizations across the state.
  • Public Welfare Foundation – Texans Care for Children received a grant from the Public Welfare Foundation in support of our work in juvenile justice system reform.  With the support of the Public Welfare Foundation, Texans Care, along with partner the Texas Criminal Justice Coalition, is working to ensure that reforms of the current legislative session will be effectively implemented across the state.  Texans Care will also work to continue to shed light on the challenges faced by families and youth involved in the juvenile justice system.
  • David and Lucile Packard Foundation and The Atlantic Philanthropies– Texans Care received funding from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and The Atlantic Philanthropies, in partnership with the Children’s Defense Fund and Center for Public Policy Priorities, to create a campaign to improve the health and wellbeing of Texas children.  The KidsWell Campaign kicked off last week and will work to mobilize Texans around improving access to affordable, quality health care for Texas children and families.
  • Voices for America’s Children – Last month, Texans Care for Children was awarded a grant from our national affiliate, Voices for America’s Children.  The grant will support coordinated outreach efforts to educate the Texas public on the benefits of federal health reform for Texas children and families.
