Meanwhile, one issue pertaining to child wellbeing got special attention: on the cover of a national news magazine.

In its March 22nd edition, Newsweek devoted centerpiece coverage to the issue of child obesity, with articles about how cultural trends help drive up obesity, the role of doctors in prevention efforts, an online column about efforts by the food industry to secretly make food healthier (you read that right!), and a submission from Michelle Obama about her campaign to "empower parents, schools, and the community to battle child obesity."
