Texas children must be safe from abuse and neglect. Those removed from their homes need support from caring adults.
 
Each child brings the promise of a safer, less violent, and more caring future for Texas. First, though, Texas needs to meet that promise by protecting children from abuse and neglect and offering a safe and permanent home to children removed from their parents' care. Texas can help stop the cycle of abuse and neglect, and give child victims a protective, loving environment when they need it most.
 
 
What Texas can do and why it matters:
  • Prevent child abuse and neglect, a cycle we can end.
    In the last decade, more children in Texas than any other state have died as a result of abuse or neglect. Successful prevention programs and reforms to our Child Protective Services can prevent tragedies like these. More >>

  • Give foster children support for a better life.
    Children in the foster care system who never find a permanent home have a 1 in 4 chance of becoming homeless as adults. Texas needs to change the odds for foster kids, who have been removed from their homes. More >>
