"Put Kids 1st, Texas" Project Seeks Texas Kids to Star

IIn Texas, to
Put Kids 1st means to create a healthier, safer, better tomorrow by meeting the needs of children today. To help tell the story of that tomorrow, we at Texans Care for Children are seeking help from real Texas kids for a 2010 video.
Winners and their chaperones will receive an expenses-paid trip to Austin for taping an educational message to be shared with Texans statewide, including state leaders! Following the taping, winners and their families will be invited to meet with their own state representatives at the Capitol.
To be selected:
- Children and youth between the ages of 5 and 17 must receive permission from a parent or legal guardian using this form. Forms must include all requested information, and be submitted with the video.
- Submissions should be short videos, lasting no longer than two minutes. Videos should answer one or both of the questions below:
- "Why should Texas put kids first?"
OR
- "When you grow up, what will you do for Texas?"
All submissions are due by September 1, 2010.
Official Rules and Guidelines
Videos should be no longer than two minutes (shorter is fine). Videos can be as simple as the entrant answering on camera one of these two questions: Why should Texas put kids first? or When you grow up, what will you do for Texas?

We recommend using one of the following file formats: WebM files, MPEG4, 3GPP and MOV files, .AVI, .MPEGPS, .WMV, .FLV with Adobe - FLV1 video codec and MP3 audio.
Winning submissions may result in a prize of a round-trip ticket to Austin for a child and his or her parent or legal guardian. It is estimated that 1-2 winners will be selected. To be eligible for an expense-paid trip to Austin, submissions must be received, adhering to the official rules and guidelines, no later than September 1, 2010.

A. NO OBLIGATION TO USE:
You acknowledge and agree that Texans Care for Children is not required to host, display, accept, consider, or broadcast any video entered or submitted into the "Put Kids 1st, Texas" Project contest and you further agree that if Texans Care for Children determines that your entry does not meet eligibility requirements for any reason, Texans Care for Children may, at its sole discretion, remove your submission from the contest by declining to feature it.
You understand and agree that once you submit or attempt to submit your video by sending it to csinatra@txchildren.org it is an entry into the "Put Kids 1st, Texas" Project contest, and you shall have no right to prohibit, restrict, revoke or terminate any of the rights granted to Texans Care for Children hereunder. You understand and acknowledge that you are not entitled to any compensation or other consideration for your video or any use made of your video once submitted into the contest.
B. RIGHTS AND DISTRIBUTION:
By submitting your video into this competition, you hereby grant to Texans Care for Children the royalty-free nonexclusive right to copy, sublicense, edit, modify, publish, transmit, make derivative works, distribute, delete or display the content of the video and elements embodied within the video, in whole or in part, worldwide, in any media including television broadcast and via Internet download, streaming, transmission, exhibition or distribution by any computer-mediated networked communication systems, whether now existing or later invented in perpetuity, without limitation and without consideration or acknowledgment to the entrant, including for advertising/publicity purposes without compensation, except where prohibited by law. You understand, however, that Texans Care for Children is not assuming any obligation hereunder to broadcast or distribute any video submitted into the contest.
C. AGREE TO BE BOUND
By entering, entrants agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges and these official rules and to comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations as well as all rules and terms of use posted on www.texanscareforchildren.org.
D. NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES
Texans Care for Children and those working for or on its behalf will not be responsible for lost, late, misdirected, damaged, submissions or attempted submissions, or for e-mail, internet, computer hardware and software, phone, and/or any other technical errors, malfunctions, and delays that may prevent you from submitting your video into the contest, or interfere with your compliance of the rules of this competition. All responsibilities related to submitting a qualifying entry fall on you, the entrant or potential entrant.
E. ENTRY COMPLIANCE AND ENTRY DISPUTES
Entries which are mutilated, incomplete, illegible, inaccurate, forged, irregular in any way, or otherwise not in compliance with these official rules are void. In the event of a dispute concerning who submitted an entry, the entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized holder of the e-mail account from which the entry is sent. The "authorized account holder" is the natural person to whom an email address is assigned by an internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
Automated entries of any kind, including but not limited to entries submitted using any bot, script, macro, or contest service, and third party entries are not permitted and will be disqualified.
Texans Care for Children will validate all entries and will determine, at its sole discretion, whether each video meets the entry criteria detailed herein for acceptance as an entry into the contest.
F. PROMOTION/PUBLICITY
By submitting an entry, you grant Texans Care for Children and its affiliates the right to use and authorize others to use information provided by you to Texans Care for Children hereunder, including your name and city of origin, as well as excerpts from your submission/s and the names, voices, likenesses, and biographies of all persons performing services in connection with the video, for publicity and institutional promotional purposes to the extent permitted by law. You understand and agree that Texans Care for Children may request more information from you for such purposes, should your video become a winner. You agree not to claim or imply for any reason that Texans Care for Children is a producer or co-producer of your video.
G. RELEASE FROM LIABILITY
Entrants agree that Texans Care for Children and related individuals or entities shall not be liable for losses or injuries of any kind resulting from acceptance of prize(s), participation in the contest, individual, joint or collective technical malfunctions of the telephone network and/or transmission line, computer on-line system, computer equipment, hardware and/or software, or any delay or distortion of an entry resulting from data transmissions that are garbled, incomplete, misdirected, lost, mutilated, delayed, corrupted, mechanically duplicated, illegible or otherwise not in compliance with these official rules. You also agree that Texans Care for Children is not liable for damage to a user's computer system (including, without limitation, any server failure or loss, delayed or corrupted data or other malfunction) due, either directly or indirectly, to an entrant's participation in the contest or downloading of information in connection with the contest. Texans Care for Children reserves the right to modify or cancel the contest in the event that any portion of any website used to administer any aspect of the contest becomes technically corrupted.
