Voting

The leaders you elect should share your interest in ensuring Texans have the best start in life.
  1. Know the calendar
Know when and where campaigning and voting will occur. For voter registration and information, visit the Secretary of State’s website: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/index.shtml
  2. Do your homework
Become familiar with candidates’ backgrounds, so you can decide where they stand on children's issues. For example, you’ll want to know:
    • What issues have candidates focused on (in handouts, advertising, press releases and their websites)?
    • What community groups and media outlets have endorsed this candidate?
    • What past activities or positions indicate the candidates’ leanings on your issue?

For information about elections and candidates in your community, the League of Women Voters is a great resource. To find your local league, visit the League of Women Voters of Texas website: http://lwvtexas.org/localleaguesvoters.htm

  3. Vote!

To register to vote and find your polling place, visit: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/index.shtml
